“Let’s-a go!” The gang from the Mushroom Kingdom now has a home at Universal Studios Japan.
Super Nintendo World is officially open in Japan. Universal celebrated the expansion’s grand opening Thursday.
The land features Mario Kart and Yoshi-themed rides and attractions, as well as restaurants and shops. Popular game-theme settings like Peach’s Castle and Bowser’s Castle tower over the area.
Guests can also participate in an all-new type of “Asobi” play experience where they will jump, punch question-mark blocks and collect virtual coins.
A Power-Up Band is also available to purchase in the land, which syncs to guests’ smart phones and allows them to track their score and compete with other park guests.
“SUPER NINTENDO WORLD is the perfect blend of Nintendo games and theme park experiences, and brings the world of these incredibly popular games to life,” said Tom Williams, Chairman & CEO, Universal Parks & Resorts. This will surely amaze and delight not only fans of the park, but also Nintendo fans around the world. We look forward to sharing SUPER NINTENDO WORLD with our fans in Japan and bringing the experience to life at other Universal theme park destinations in the future.”
Super Nintendo World is expected to be added to Epic Universe, which will be Universal Orlando Resort’s fourth theme park in Orlando.
Universal paused construction on Epic Universe in July 2020 due to the pandemic.
Epic Universe will feature a new theme park, an entertainment center, hotels, shops, restaurants and more, according to Universal.
The park will be located a few miles from Universal Orlando’s current theme parks.
