Lost Walt Disney drawings? A collector is confident they are the real deal

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Affiliated Auctions & Realty in Tallahassee is wishing upon a star that it has a Disney original.

The company is set to put up to auction a 9x10 inch cardstock pen-and-ink drawing that a Florida collector believes to be an early interpretation of the beloved Mickey Mouse.

According to the auction company’s website, a collector in Florida purchased the drawing in its frame at a Florida flea market for $10.

On the back of the frame, there was a written message: “Son’s Baby Picture, 1926 & 1927, He loved it.”

When the collector opened the frame there were “Disney-esque” family pencil sketches on the reverse, the auction company said.

The collector has tried to authenticate the drawing by many experts, according to Affiliated Auctions. However, he has obtained mixed reviews.
