ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — WFTV learned Lynx is considering eliminating one of its 10 bus routes to Disney.
Link 111 runs from the Orlando International Airport to Downtown Disney, the Magic Kingdom and Disney University.
Even though more than a half-million passengers ride different parts of the route, WFTV's Racquel Asa found out money has simply run out.
Courtney Littleton's three-hour bus ride from Poinciana sounds like a math equation.
"I take the 56, the 26 and the 111," she said.
But starting in December, the last leg of her trip to work, which picks up at Disney, could be gone.
"This is the last bus I take to get there. I mean, it's right in front of my job on Destination Parkway," said Littleton.
WFTV found out $6 million in funding from the state and Disney has dried up. Disney said it committed to running the service for five years, and it has fulfilled its agreement.
The change would eliminate the 111 route from its stop by the Orange County Convention Center.
The new stop would move down by SeaWorld, almost two miles away. WFTV calculated that waiting for the new bus will add at least an extra 15 minutes.
Lynx told WFTV it's still adjusting routes and times so that no one is left stranded. But even a little adjustment is a big one for Littleton.
"I get to work maybe 20 minutes exactly before work when I clock in," she said.
It's time Littleton and some Disney employees told WFTV they just don't have.
"It's not fair at all. I mean, I was so happy to see a bus: the 111," Littleton said.
If the Lynx board approves the cut, it will go into effect on Dec. 16. Public comment on the change is open for another 10 days.
