LEESBURG, Fla. — Some Lake County residents were doing their regular grocery shopping when police said a man suddenly exposed himself inside the store.
The incident happened Friday at the Winn-Dixie on U.S. 27 in Lake County.
Investigators said an employee saw the man say hello and the next thing she knew he was exposing himself. The suspect then ran out of the store hopped in his vehicle and took off but police were able to stop him before he got away.
"We need an officer. We had a man expose himself to a, one of our female employees," the manager told dispatchers.
Employees got a description of the suspect and the truck he was trying to leave in and they helped lead police to him. He was later identified as Matthew Schinse.
Eyewitness News learned Schinse was convicted in 2012 for doing the same thing to a woman at the Leesburg library. He received probation and underwent psychiatric treatment.
The state attorney said Schinse wasn't labeled a sex offender because he was charged with a misdemeanor for the library incident.
In a statement sent to WFTV, Winn-Dixie representatives said: "We thank the Leesburg Police Department for their quick response to this incident and we are cooperating with law enforcement to bring this matter to a timely resolution."
