Man accused of running fake ID business for illegal immigrants, Brevard County officials say

ROCKLEDGE, Fla. — A 41-year-old Guatemalan national was arrested in Brevard County on charges of running a fake ID business that catered to illegal immigrants for at least two years, officials said.

Andre Calmo-Felipe was arrested Friday night in Rockledge after police said he was found running the fake ID operation that provided fake Social Security cards and permanent resident cards to customers for $160.

Investigators could be seen at the home where Calmo-Felipe was taken into custody carrying out bags of evidence, including computer screens and keyboards.

The IDs allegedly created by Calmo-Felipe were of passable quality, Rockledge Detective Robert Weigel said.

“It was good documentation,” Weigel said. “I mean, it’s good fake documentation. However, we were clearly able to tell they were not real.”

Calmo-Felipe’s 21-year-old son, Pablo Calmo Mendoza, was also arrested on a charge of unlawful possession of an ID.

Investigators said they confiscated a fake Social Security card from Mendoza two years ago during an unrelated incident.

Police did not know how many fraudulent documents had allegedly been produced by Calmo-Felipe, which was concerning to Weigel.

“You have fraudulent documentation floating around,” he said.
