ORLANDO, Fla. — A man is behind bars on suspicion that he held his girlfriend against her will with a gun Sunday morning in an east Orlando apartment, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office said.
Richard Rivera, 32, was arrested and charged with kidnapping and aggravated assault, deputies said.

Rivera and his girlfriend allegedly got into a fight in his car around 6 a.m. at the Camellia Pointe Apartments. Rivera fired two shots at her when she got out of the car, deputies said.
He missed, but allegedly forced her back into the car at gunpoint, taking her to an apartment on Malaga Street, deputies said.

Three children were inside the apartment. The woman waited for Rivera to fall asleep before fleeing with the three kids to a nearby Circle K on Goldenrod Road.
A clerk called 911 for the woman, sending SWAT team officers to the apartment where Rivera was sleeping.

SWAT officers entered the apartment and arrested Rivera around 2 p.m.
