Man denied bail in Christmas Day Walgreens kidnapping

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — The man accused of kidnapping a woman from a Walgreens on Christmas Day faced a judge in court Wednesday, where he was denied bail.

The victim said Daniel Palomares, who goes by the name Richard, made her drive to several different ATMs in Orlando after he forced her at gunpoint into her car at a Walgreens.

Authorities said he made her drive to a Wells Fargo ATM to get cash, then on to more stops, passing the Orange County sheriff's headquarters and the jail before finally making her drive to a parking lot on Colonial Drive and John Young Parkway, where he ran away.

Palomares, 23, had been in jail for stealing from a Target when investigators matched his fingerprints with evidence left in the victim's car. Authorities said that's how they connected him back to the Christmas Day kidnapping and arrested him on Tuesday.

Palomares is listed as a violent offender on the jail's website.
