19-year-old man dies after being shot several times in Ocala

OCALA, Fla. — A man died after he was shot several times in Ocala, police said.

Officers said they received a 911 call about shots fired near the 900 block of NW 6th Avenue around 11:20 p.m. Thursday.

Police said they found Ferron Williams, 19, near the 600 block of Northwest 10th Street suffering from several gunshot wounds.

Williams, who police said was autistic, was taken to a hospital where he later died.

Investigators said that before the shooting, Williams was sitting outside the front porch of an acquaintance’s residence to use the nearby Hardee’s public Wi-Fi.

Police said it appears that the shots came from the roadway.

People inside the home said bullets went through the walls  and into their furniture.

Williams did not appear to be in any fight or disturbance and appears to be an innocent murder victim, police said.

Officers are searching for the person responsible for Williams’ death.
