SANFORD, Fla. — A man was shot in the leg in a Sanford parking lot after he left the Wet Spot bar early Wednesday, police said.
Sanford police received a 911 call about the shooting on East 2nd Street and South Park Avenue.

Investigators said as Washburn crossed the street after leaving the bar at about 2 a.m. and entered a nearby parking lot, a man approached him and while pointing a handgun, demanded Washburn’s jewelry.
Washburn tried to push the man away, and that’s when the other man fired the gun.
According to witnesses, the gunman was described as a black man, wearing a gray or green baseball hat, a gray, long-sleeved shirt and blue jeans.
