DELTONA, Fla. — A 28-year-old convicted felon was behind bars Monday after, among other things, allegedly stealing an iPad from a man who had gone into a Deltona Publix to buy him food, the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office said.

Deputies were able to track down the man, later identified as Raymond Ingberg, using the “Find My iPhone” app on the iPad, investigators said.

The victim was trying to do something good when the iPad was stolen, Sheriff’s Office spokesman Andrew Gant said.

“He did go inside to buy the guy some food,” Gant said. “When he came back out, the iPad was gone, and so was the guy.”

When investigators tracked the iPad to a residence, the person inside said Ingberg had dropped off the tablet computer and asked him to hold onto it, deputies said.

Ingberg was located nearby wearing a pair of shoes that had just been reported stolen in a break-in.

“The victim had told us he was missing a pair of (Nike) Air Jordans, and it just so happened the guy we were looking for was wearing a pair of white Jordans, walking down the street,” Gant said.

Investigators reported finding a pair of black boots Ingberg was believed to be wearing previously, at the scene of the burglary where the Air Jordans were taken.

Ingberg was also found to be in possession of a large amount of jewelry and electronics, deputies said.

After being questioned by investigators, Ingberg led them to the woods where he had stashed a duffel bag containing five stolen handguns, the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office said.

Ingberg was facing two counts of grand theft, armed burglary and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
