SUMTER COUNTY, Fla. — The Sumter County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man wanted on active warrants in Wildwood after striking a deputy with his vehicle and fleeing a traffic stop.
The arrest stemmed from an attempted warrant service during a traffic stop on Sept. 30, 2026.
When a deputy attempted to take John Riehm into custody, he resisted, hit both the deputy and the deputy’s patrol vehicle with his car, and fled the scene to evade arrest.
Detectives eventually tracked Riehm to the Wildwood RV Village.
The RV park is located approximately one mile from the site of the initial traffic stop.
