Memorial Day travel kicks into high gear at Orlando International Airport

ORLANDO, Fla. — Memorial Day travel has kicked into high gear at Orlando International Airport.


It’s the unofficial start of the summer travel season, with nearly 162,000 passengers expected to fly in and out on Thursday alone.

Orlando International Airport is the busiest airport in Florida and the seventh busiest airport in the United States.

According to airport officials, more than 1.1 million travelers will pass through Orlando International Airport during the 7-day travel period.

3.4 million travelers are expected to board flights nationwide

As the nation’s most visited destination, airport officials say the Orlando area is preparing for about 16 percent more passengers than last year.
