Already, city officials broke ground on the Southeast Community and Government Center, a $13 million, 15,000-square-foot building with a police substation, access to several city services including permitting and an Orange County Library System branch. That project is expected to be completed by 2026.

The city also has plans for other projects:

  • Poitras Park: The city will build Poitras Park on 14.2 acres it owns along Luminary Boulevard. The $12 million project is expected to be finished by the end of 2026.
  • Reclaimed water storage: The city has plans for a $13.4 million water storage facility behind Lake Nona Landing. The three-acre property would have a three-million-gallon reclaimed water ground storage tank and a pump station, with room for another storage tank in the future. Construction is expected to start in May and take a year.
  • Fire station: The city has plans for Fire Station 18 at the corner of Narcoossee Road and Luminary Boulevard on 2.5 acres. The project will not have a cost until after the design is completed in spring 2025. The project would take 14 months once a contractor is selected.
