Disney World monorail gets stuck; passengers evacuated

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — It took firefighters two hours to fully evacuate a Walt Disney World monorail Saturday afternoon, officials said.

It stopped between the Magic Kingdom and the Contemporary Way stops shortly before 5 p.m. due to a mechanical issue, Reedy Creek Fire Rescue said.

Traffic was backed up between the The Contemporary and the Magic Kingdom stops.

Dozens of passengers tweeted that they had been stuck for hours.

No one was injured.

Walt Disney World hasn't responded to requests for comment on the incident.
