There's more legal trouble for the mother accused of intentionally driving her three children into the ocean.
In Daytona Beach in 2014, Ebony Wilkerson drove her minivan, with her three children inside, onto a beach and then into the surf.
Wilkerson was found not guilty by reason of insanity on charges stemming from the Daytona Beach incident, which was caught on camera by tourists and made national news.
When the minivan hit the water, bystanders and police were able to pull the woman and her children out and no one was hurt.
Since obtaining conditional release last August, Wilkerson had been receiving care for her mental health at a residential facility with minimal restrictions in Lake Wales, but the Florida State Attorney’s Office filed a motion Tuesday to take her back into state custody.
Wilkerson faced a judge Thursday after she was picked up in Orange County on a warrant out of Volusia County.
The judge said, "Volusia County has ordered you held on no bond."
"It's hard not being with my kids. It's a process," Wilkerson said.
But something in the process broke down.
Earlier this week, prosecutors submitted documents to the court seeking to revoke her conditional release, saying that, on May 25, "Ebony Wilkerson drove herself to the Lake Wales Medical Center due to a psychotic episode."
The state's motion said Lake Wales’ staff determined that Wilkerson hadn't been taking her medication for three weeks leading up the psychotic episode.
Wilkerson asked the judge,"Is there a way for me to get bond?”
And the Orange County judge replied, “Only in Volusia County, ma'am."
Wilkerson’s husband told a judge last month their children wanted to see her.
Volusia County has until early next week to pick her up from the Orange County Jail.
