Mosquitoes show up early due to central Florida rain

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — Get ready to deal with the bad side of a rainy winter; mosquitoes, lots of them, could show up earlier than usual, experts say.

In Volusia County, employees have already started treating mosquito larvae in salt marshes, swampy areas and abandoned tire piles.

Mosquito Control is urging people to check their yards for any standing water where the pesky bugs can breed.
