CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. — NASA is putting together the next Space Launch System rocket that will support the Artemis III mission from Florida’s Space Coast.

Teams at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center moved the Artemis III SLS core stage into the transfer aisle of the Vehicle Assembly Building as work continues to assemble the rocket.

The 212-foot core stage is being lifted into position to be connected with the rocket’s two solid rocket boosters, which provide most of the thrust needed during liftoff.

The work brings together the largest components of the Artemis III rocket as NASA prepares for the next phase of its lunar exploration program
