ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — A new case of the Zika virus was found Monday in Orange County, according to the Florida Department of Health.
The DOH announced two new cases in Florida, including one each in Orange and Pinellas counties. Officials said five Florida patients with the virus are still exhibiting symptoms.
The new case brings the total in Brevard, Orange, Osceola, Polk and Seminole counties to 18. There are 107 total cases in Florida.
Seven pregnant Florida women have tested positive for the virus, but the counties in which they live were not released.
DOH officials said all the cases are travel-related.
The department urges Floridians to drain standing water weekly. A couple of drops of water in a bottle cap can be a breeding location for mosquitoes. Residents and visitors also need to use repellents while outside.
