New MagicBand+ launching this summer at Disney, ‘Hey Disney!’ voice assistant also coming soon

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — MagicBands at Walt Disney World are getting an upgrade.

In the theme parks, MagicBand+ can also be used to bring the “Disney Fab 50″ statues to life and interact with them via augmented reality through the “Disney Fab 50 Quest.”

In Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, guests can join the “Star Wars: Batuu Bounty Hunters” experience to find hidden virtual bounties.

For guests experiencing the parks’ nighttime spectaculars, their MagicBand+ will light up and complement the event, Disney said.

Disney is also launching “Hey Disney!” which uses Alexa technology to ask useful questions, set alarms, get helpful hints and get answers from more than 25 Disney icons including Mickey Mouse, Olaf and more.

“Hey Disney!” will allow Disney Resort hotel guests to use the tool to learn about their vacation, order room amenities and more, Disney said. It will begin rolling out in select Disney Resort hotel guest rooms later this year.

“Hey Disney!” will also be available for purchase on supported Echo devices via the Alexa Skills store.

MagicBand will be able to interact with the “Hey Disney!” voice assistant at a later date.
