The death of a woman who was found beaten and unconscious inside her Ocoee home has been ruled a homicide, investigators said.
Mary Ann Zosel, 63, died at the hospital after her daughter found her unconscious Sunday inside her home on West Franklin Street.
OCOEE, Fla. — Detectives said Zosel likely knew her killer. They said a visitor gained her trust and then attacked her.
“It is really weird how it all happened, because why would they go after her?” neighbor Jenna Bell said. “What did she do wrong? She was old and fragile. She couldn't have done anything.”
Neighbors said Zosel lived with her husband and son, but spent a lot of time alone while her husband was at work.
“I didn’t hear (any) shots at all,” neighbor Steven Cape said. “I got a dog and everything else, so if anything went off last night, I would have heard something. I didn’t hear (anything) at all.”

Police said they do not have any suspect information.
“We know a son was in California. We know a husband was at work. We are talking to the family, but it’s not necessarily to say they are a suspect, just to get a bigger picture of what is going on,” said Ocoee Police Lt. Mike Bryant.
Police said items were taken from the home, but they do not believe that robbery was a motive in Zosel's death.
“This isn't a house you would pull up to and think that you were going to get something. There was no known target or lure to that particular house,” said Bryant.
“I am terrified to even be at my house by myself right now. I mean, it is unbelievable,” said Bell.
Property records indicate Zosel had lived in the home for nearly 30 years.
