OIA: International passenger numbers top 2021 totals in first 5 months

ORLANDO, Fla. — Orlando International Airport continues to see a rebound in passenger traffic for the fifth consecutive month of 2022.

According to airport officials, nearly 4.4 million domestic and international passengers traveled through OIA in May, an increase of 17%.

Orlando saw domestic traffic climb to 3,909,060 passengers from the previous month.

International traffic also saw an increase, with 465,811 passengers arriving and departing.

May also marked the first time since the pandemic that overall passenger traffic was above 2019 levels for the corresponding month.

Airport officials said that the recent easing of international COVID-19 travel restrictions could further increase international numbers for the remainder of 2022.
