ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — An Orange County woman was arrested after deputies say she knowingly gave a man HIV.
It's the second case like this in central Florida in the last week.
Now the victim tells Channel 9's Kenneth Craig that there might be other victims.
It's a diagnosis that'll change your life, overnight.
And for the Orlando man, finding out he was HIV-positive — and may have gotten it from a woman he trusted — was gut-wrenching.
"Betrayal; it just has an evil feeling to it," he said.
He asked not to be identified, but did show Channel 9 how he was diagnosed with the sexually transmitted disease not long after he ended his relationship with Shawna Smith.
Smith was arrested Tuesday morning and charged for allegedly having sex and not revealing her HIV status.
"I had no clue," the man said. "She hid it well."
Smith refused to address the felony charge when asked as she bonded out of jail.
"I'll tell my story to a judge," Smith told Channel 9's Craig.
Smith has a criminal history that includes selling her body for sex.
There is no telling if there are any other victims, but this man is convinced he's not alone.
"She's going to infect any and everybody she can," he said.
