Orange County deputies arrest man suspected in multiple burglaries

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Orange County deputies said they've arrested the man who pointed a gun at a mother and her 3-year-old son while breaking into their home.

Ralph Ductan, 31, was arrested Friday and booked into jail at about 8 p.m.

Deputies believe he’s responsible for at least a half-dozen burglaries.

They were able to identify the suspect in a composite sketch thanks to cellphone video one victim found on her iCloud account after her phone was stolen from her home.

Detectives said he recorded himself in the act of another burglary and was beaming the video back to the cellphone’s owner.

Earlier this week, Ductan was accused of threatening a mother and her young son.

The woman said Monday she was sleeping on the couch with her son at her home in the Millennium Palms Apartments on Texas Avenue when she was awakened by a man coming in through her sliding glass door.

As her son started to cry, the man allegedly pointed a gun at the child and the mother, and threatened to shoot them if the boy didn’t stop crying.

Deputies released a composite sketch of the man after the incident. They believe he is responsible for multiple burglaries in the area, taking items like purses, cellphones and video game systems.

Ductan is facing charges of armed robbery, burglary of an occupied dwelling, criminal mischief and miscellaneous theft.

As he was hauled off to jail Friday night, he told Channel 9 “no” when asked if he was behind the burglaries.

“He was violent. And he was continuing to get more violent the longer this went on,” said Detective Kathleen Ela of the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.

Detectives believe Ductan was involved in additional burglaries.

They believe Ductan had an accomplice and are working on additional arrest warrants.
