6-year-old boy passes away after getting stuck in parking gate last week, police say

ORLANDO. Fla. — Orlando police confirmed Saturday evening that a 6-year-old injured in an accident last weekend has tragically passed away.

Police said the boy was on life-support in the hospital after he was rescued from the metal roll-up gate on May 29.

Officers said the investigation into his death is ongoing.

A GoFundMe page set up for the family had been asking for donations to help keep the boy on life-support.

That fundraiser was updated Saturday to say the boy has passed away, and the family is now trying to raise money to cover his funeral.

Orlando police are still trying to figure out how the 6-year-old child got caught in a rollup garage gate.

It happened on Concord Street just before 10 a.m.

Eyewitnesses said the boy might have been climbing on the gate when it went up, but so far police haven’t confirmed that.

People who live nearby said they heard screaming from the next building over.

Once the boy was freed, he was taken to Arnold Palmer Hospital where he remains on life support.
