The caregiver was expected to drop the baby off to a day care on Indian Hill Road, but the caregiver did not drop off the child Friday.
BREAKING: Neighbors tell me this house where OCSO confirms a 1-year-old was found dead in a car is a daycare. Three neighbors have told me they saw a woman, who is not the mom, taken away by deputies about an hour ago. pic.twitter.com/8nIBJ9JF54— Deanna Allbrittin (@deannaTVnews) September 11, 2020
Investigators said when the caregiver arrived at the day care at about 3:45 p.m. to pick up the baby, Jace was found unresponsive in the car.
Paramedics determined that Jace was dead.
Detectives said they are waiting on the medical examiner’s report to determine the official cause of death.
Several neighbors described the home as a day care, but the Florida Department of Children and Families' map of registered child care providers doesn’t show a license for the address.
