Bishop Moore Catholic High School cancels football game, quarantines players after positive COVID-19 test

ORLANDO, Fla. — Bishop Moore Catholic High School announced Wednesday that it canceled an upcoming football game and quarantined players after someone tested positive for COVID-19.

In an email to parents, the school said it quarantined the varsity and junior varsity football teams due to a positive COVID-19 test.

The football team was supposed to play Edgewater High School, but the game was cancelled.

Edgewater took to social media to try to find another opponent to play Friday, but came up empty handed.

Bishop Moore school officials said “all games and practices will be cancelled until further notice.”

It is not known if the person who tested positive was on the football team or was a staff member.

The team last played Leesburg High School in a game last Friday.

The following was included in an email that was sent to parents:

“If an effort to keep you informed, we have quarantined the varsity and junior varsity football teams due to a positive COVID-19 case. This week’s game against Edgewater is cancelled. All games and practices will be cancelled until further notice. This decision was made in the consultation with the Florida Department of Health.”
