Man crashes into house after fleeing traffic stop

ORLANDO, Fla. — A man was arrested after evading a traffic stop and crashing into a home in downtown Orlando, according to police.

An Orlando police officer attempted to stop the man, who was driving a Nissan Altima, for speeding on East Anderson Street near Summerlin Avenue. The officer stepped into the roadway and attempted to direct the driver to pull over, but the driver sped by toward, then around, the officer, police said.

The suspect then hit another vehicle and eventually crashed into a house, police said. He then attempted to flee on foot from his crashed car but the officer was able to detain him.

Nobody was home and the time of the crash. The driver of the other vehicle that was hit went to a hospital to be treated for minor injuries.

The suspect, whose name was not released, was arrested on criminal traffic charges.
