ORLANDO, Fla. — Channel 9 announced Friday that Kirstin Delgado will join Channel 9 Eyewitness News This Morning as a news anchor, beginning Nov. 29.
“I couldn’t think of a bigger blessing than working at Eyewitness News,” she said. “I’m ecstatic to be back home in Central Florida.”
Delgado was born in Puerto Rico and is bilingual and passionate about the Latino community. She was raised in Kennesaw, Georgia.
She graduated from Virginia’s Hampton University with a degree in broadcast journalism.
Before joining Channel 9, Delgado was an anchor and reporter at WINK-TV in Ft. Myers.
She said she returned to Puerto Rico to cover the aftermath of Hurricane Maria, 10 years after moving from the island.
“I still have family on the island, and although they made it out alive, thousands did not,” she said. “The stories of strife and perseverance were plentiful. It was my greatest honor to tell their stories.”
When she is not anchoring, she enjoys arts and crafts, do-it-yourself projects and gift wrapping.
Although she does not cook often, she enjoys making flan, she said.
Delgado will join co-anchor Christian Bruey, meteorologist Brian Shields and traffic anchor Deneige Broom from 4:30 a.m. to 7 a.m. weekdays on Channel 9 Eyewitness News This Morning and from 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. on Channel 9 Eyewitness News on WRDQ TV 27.
