‘A major setback’: Little League baseball team’s concession stand catches on fire, causing thousands of dollars in damage

ORLANDO, Fla. — A possible grease fire in a concession stand caused thousands of dollars in damage for a Local Little league baseball park.

The fire happened Saturday at the ballpark next to Azalea Park Elementary School, just off Semoran Boulevard.

The Little League president tried to fight the flames until firefighters arrived.

“Everybody’s shaken up right now. You know, they’re out here practicing. They’re all feeling good, getting autographs," Earl Lugo, the Little League’s president, said.

Lugo said he tried to put the fire out himself with anything he could find.

At one point, he threw water on the grease fire, only making it grow.

Now, the concession stand is badly burned, along with everything else the league planned to sell for money.

“Just a little frustrated because it seems like every time we get two or three steps ahead of the game here, it’s like we take a major setback,” Lugo said.
