Man killed, child shot in Orlando, police say

ORLANDO, Fla. — Orlando police are investigating what led up to shooting that left one man dead and a 7-year-old injured.

Police were called to an apartment complex on L.B. McLeod Road near Interstate 4 and John Young Parkway on Sunday night in response to a shooting.

According to police, around 5 p.m. a 25-year-old man was shot and killed, and a 7-year-old was grazed in the foot by a bullet.

The child was taken to the hospital and is expected to be recover.

The victim has been identified as James Abraham Louima, police said.

Police haven’t said what, if any, is the relationship is between Louima and the child.

People living in the complex told Channel 9 that they heard the gunshots and screaming Saturday night.

Orlando police haven’t said what led up to the shooting, but they believe this is an isolated incident.

The shooting remains an ongoing investigation.
