Fireworks spark reports of shooting, panic at Florida Mall

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — No shots were fired at The Florida Mall, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.

On Saturday afternoon, Channel 9 received multiple reports of people fleeing the mall after possible gunshots were reported.

People at the mall tweeted out that they were sheltering inside stores and storage rooms inside the mall.

Deputies responded and determined that the loud noise was suspected fireworks.

Deputies are asking that people “tamp down those false rumors” regarding an active shooter.
