Man killed in Orange County shooting identified

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Orange County deputies are investigating two shootings that happened within a few blocks of each other on Saturday morning.

At 1 a.m. on Saturday, deputies responded to a 911 call on St. Nicholas Avenue off East Colonial Drive in Christmas.

When deputies arrived, they located a man who had been shot. According to deputies, the man, identified as Willie Slater Jr., 44, was pronounced dead at the scene.

While deputies were responding to the shooting on St. Nicholas, they received a 911 emergency call at the Circle K just a few blocks away on East Colonial Drive.

At that scene, deputies found a female in her 20s in a car, who had been shot. She was transported to the hospital and is expected to recover.

Deputies have not released any other information on these shootings.
