Orlando honors armed forces with annual Veterans Day parade

ORLANDO, Fla. — The community came together Saturday to honor those who served in the armed forces.

Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer and the Veterans Advisory Council hosted the 23rd City of Orlando Veterans Day Parade in downtown Orlando.

This year’s theme celebrates the 80th anniversary of the Women’s Army Auxiliary Corps and Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service.

The city had a post-parade celebration this year at the Lake Eola Amphitheater for the first time with games and activities.

The parade included over 45 central Florida veteran organizations, active-duty military, high school JROTCS, the UCF Air Force, and Army ROTCs.

Bands from the UPC Bailes Community Academy, Lake Nona High School and the Villages Twirlers and Drum Corps also were in attendance at the parade.
