Residents should avoid swimming, wading, or consuming water from any area with visible blooms

Lake Formosa Health officials issued a caution on Wednesday after blue-green algae was detected at Lake Formosa.

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Health officials issued a caution on Wednesday after blue-green algae was detected at Lake Formosa.

While water sample testing is currently underway to confirm toxin levels, state authorities advise residents to avoid swimming, drinking, or wading in the water. Pets and livestock should also be kept away from the area.

Results will be posted on the Algal Bloom Dashboard once laboratory testing is complete.
