ORLANDO, Fla. — ***TROPICAL STORM CRISTOBAL FORMS IN CENTRAL ATLANTIC***
Tropical Storm Cristobal formed on Wednesday morning in the Central Atlantic and is anticipated to be a short-lived storm.
The 11 am advisory from the National Hurricane Center had winds of 45 mph.
Cristobal is the third named storm of the 2026 Atlantic hurricane season and was formerly Invest 93L.
The storm is expected to slowly weaken in the open Atlantic and dissipate on Thursday.
Cristobal is moving quickly to the east and is expected to turn east-northeast later Wednesday and into Wednesday night.
The storm will remain in the open Atlantic and well east of Florida and the United States.
Two Other Systems to Track
Elsewhere in the Tropics, there are two other areas to monitor in the open Atlantic.
The first area, known as Invest 92L, is in the open Atlantic and is moving westward.
Conditions are favorable for organization, and a tropical depression is likely to form late week.
The National Hurricane Center is giving this area an 80% chance of development.
Invest 92L could impact portions of the Lesser Antilles this weekend.
Another area of interest west of Africa may also develop further, with a current 30% chance.
