When they arrived, a Black male was lying on the ground with fatal gunshot wounds, police said.

According to police, the victim, 39-year-old Anthony Lewis Washington, arrived home and was approached by an unknown person after getting out of his car.

On Tuesday, Channel 9 spoke to the victim’s wife, Latish Washington.

“I feel empty, we’ve been together for 28 years,” Washington said. “”All I want is justice for my husband.”

Washington said her husband was bringing home food for his family. Washington said she was on the phone with her husband while he was on the way home with dinner.

“I heard the car pull up, so I hung up and came downstairs,” Washington said. “When I came out I heard a pop and I’m like, ‘OK, what did you drop?’”

“When I walked over, that’s when I saw him lying on the ground,” Washington added.

During their investigation, detectives obtained video from a neighbor showing the shooter in the area around the time of the crime.

Washington told Channel 9 that after seeing the video, she thinks it’s clear that someone was waiting for her husband.

Police said they have no idea why someone might have wanted him dead.
