Gas prices spike again, up more than $1 from last year

ORLANDO, Fla. — Drivers in Orlando are seeing some relief at the pump, with average gas prices falling 27.6 cents per gallon in the past week, according to GasBuddy.

The average price of a gallon of regular gas in Orlando is now $3.85. That is 17.5 cents lower than a month ago, but still 86.8 cents higher than this time last year.

GasBuddy found prices ranging from $3.57 to $4.49 per gallon at Orlando-area stations.

Prices are also falling nationally. The average gallon dropped 17.1 cents in the past week to $4.12, while diesel declined to an average of $6.28 per gallon.

Nearby, Tampa is averaging $3.77, Ocala $3.82 and Gainesville $3.99 per gallon.

GasBuddy attributed the recent decline to refinery maintenance wrapping up and lower seasonal demand. Despite the drop, analysts warned that volatility in oil markets could lead to additional price swings heading into the holidays.
