ORLANDO, Fla. — Orlando International Airport earned two industry awards for employee innovation and its support of displaced Spirit Airlines workers.

The MCO initiatives were honored at the 2026 Airports Council International–North America awards in Seattle:

  • CX Through People: The airport’s Dolphin Tank program lets employees pitch ideas to improve the passenger experience, airport operations and workplace.
  • Partnering with Carriers: After Spirit Airlines ceased operations May 2, MCO organized a career-transition event connecting affected workers with employers and job resources. The airport also hosted a private farewell gathering for former employees.

“World-class service begins with world-class people,” said Lance Lyttle, CEO of the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority.

MCO also earned finalist recognition for its World Art Day partnerships and Digital Twin technology.
