Orlando restaurant to be temporarily shut down due to violations

ORLANDO, Fla. — An Orlando restaurant will be forced to temporarily shut its doors after state inspectors found the restaurant dangerously violating state code.

WFTV has been investigating the Chaat House for years because of bad inspections.

When WFTV showed up at the small, but busy Orlando restaurant Friday night we wanted to give its managers an opportunity to prove state inspectors wrong.

But they wouldn't budge. For the third time, the state is taking action against the Chaat House. The Indian restaurant was just found guiltily of violating 11 different food code standards. And the violations are so bad that in just weeks it'll be forced to temporarily shut down.

It comes after an inspection last year that found dirty cutting boards, old food stuck to clean dishes, and perhaps most shocking: onions, flour, and even raw chicken stored on the floor.

Action 9 has investigated the restaurant for two years because of its bad inspections.

Customers were reluctant to talk to WFTV but those who did, defended the restaurant.

"I've been eating here quite a number of years they've been open. I mean they have a good reputation," said one customer who wished to remain anonymous.

The most recent inspection did find the restaurant in compliance. Regardless, the owners will still soon be forced to shut down for four days.
