Osceola County teachers demand higher pay

OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. — Some Osceola County teachers said they’re in desperate need of a pay raise, and on Tuesday, they let the school board know that their salaries need to see an increase due to the constant spike in the cost of living.

The Florida Education Association said money is in the Osceola County School District’s budget to give teachers the cost of living wage they’re asking for.

Teachers packed into the school board meeting on Tuesday to ask for an increase of 8.7%. The Florida Education Association took the podium during the meeting and broke down the numbers in the district budget and found they can do it, and they should.
