Lockdown lifted, no weapon found at Osceola County high school after reports of weapon on campus

OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. — A “red lockdown” at an Osceola County high school was lifted on Thursday morning after earlier reports of a weapon on campus.

A lockdown was issued after officials said a student may have had a weapon at Liberty High School.

School officials said no weapon was found, and students and staff members remained safe.

The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office said it was investigating.

“A student made a threat to cause bodily harm to a student. Another student implied with a handgun. The school safety protocol was enacted, and lockdown was lifted. The school is now open. No handgun was found and all parties were identified. We take these threats very seriously,” Sheriff Marcos Lopez said in a statement.

No other details were available.
