ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — South Semoran Boulevard was shut down for several hours Thursday night after a 16-year-old girl was struck and killed by a car outside a McDonald's, Orlando police said.

The south lanes of the road were closed between Lake Margaret Drive and Pershing Avenue, creating heavy delays in the area, but reopened by 10:20 p.m.
Police said an off-duty officer responded to the crash at about 6:30 p.m.
The victim was taken to a nearby hospital, where she died.

The driver stayed at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation, police said.
No other details about the crash have been released.
Police said they want to remind drivers to remain cautious during the busy holiday season.
