ORLANDO, Fla. — Orlando police said they're searching for several guns that were stolen from a man's backyard shed.
Authorities said the homeowner discovered the guns were missing from the shed on Sunday. According to a report, the stolen guns include a .357 revolver, Glock .40, 9MM handgun and a 12-gauge shotgun.
"It's disturbing because you never know who's out doing what," said neighbor Donald Haynes.
The owner of the guns told officers he kept the weapons in the shed to keep them away from his children, but the home on S. Rio Grande Avenue is next door to a day care.
"I think it's a pretty foolish thing to do is put them outside," said Haynes.
Channel 9's Mario Boone learned that more than 170 guns have been reported stolen so far this year in the city of Orlando, and most of the thefts were from homes or vehicles. Police said during the month of August, officers recovered 54 stolen guns.
Boone tried to speak to the homeowner about his stolen guns, but he wasn't home at the time. Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact Orlando police.
