ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. — If you're doing some last-minute Christmas shopping, you might want to be careful where you swipe your bank or credit card.
Police said they're investigating after credit card skimmers, which are used to steal information from cards, were found at the Altamonte Mall.
Investigators said the skimmers were discovered Monday afternoon on several ATMs, just two days after the machines were serviced.
"Tis the season to be shopping," said Altamonte Springs police Officer Robert Pelton. The Altamonte Mall is a very busy place at this time of year. Two different ATMs, so what better place to put these skimmers than in a place where people will use those ATMs a lot."
Police said the ATMs are owned and operated by Cardtronics, and they're working to identify any possible victims.
"There have been no reported victims of identity theft so far, but it is really early," Pelton said.
Management at the Altamonte Mall would not comment on the investigation.
