LAKE WALES, Fla. — The identities of two men who were injured in a Lake Wales plane crash on Wednesday morning have been released.
Anthony Arzave, 32, of Lake Mary, and Sheng-yen Chen, 26, of China, were hospitalized after their plane crashed near the Lake Wales airport.
Arzave, a flight instructor, was listed in stable condition, while Chen, a student pilot, was listed as critical, police said.
Police said the single-engine plane was equipped with an emergency parachute, which was deployed. Police did not know if the parachute was deployed by the pilots or when the plane struck the ground.
The plane, a Cirrus SR20, is registered to Aerosim Academy Inc. of Sanford, police said.
The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the crash.
