Armed man robs bank in Altamonte Springs

ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. — Altamonte Springs police have released several surveillance images of a man who robbed a TD Bank at gunpoint Saturday morning.

The robbery happened around 10 a.m. at the TD Bank on State Road 436 near the Altamonte Mall, police said. The suspect was an armed black male believed to between 30 and 40 years old.

"He pulls out a handgun and demands the teller empty his drawer, which he does comply, and leaves on foot," Officer Rob Pelton with Altamonte Springs police said.

Police said the man fled from the bank with an undisclosed amount of cash. He was wearing a white T-shirt with black stripes and a bright purple hat with a white logo.

A police K-9 tracked the suspect's scent to the back of a nearby Wendy's restaurant, where evidence from the robbery was found.

"We discovered a deployed dye pack that had tainted some of the money," Pelton said.

Police said the man was not located and is still on the run. Investigators released several surveillance images showing the suspect in hopes that someone may recognize him.
