Police: Suspects in strip club manager's death in Altamonte Springs used victim's credit cards

ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. — New information was released Thursday in the death of a 52-year-old Altamonte Springs strip club manager.

Two people have been arrested and charged with murder in connection with the falling death of James Mulrenin, which was initially believed to be a suicide.

Officers responded to the Lofts at Uptown Apartments on Uptown Boulevard at about 6:30 a.m. Dec. 14 to reports of a man committing suicide by jumping from a fifth-floor balcony.

Mulrenin was critically injured from the fall, and was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead, said police.

Investigators became suspicious about Mulrenin’s death when they learned he had been shot in the leg before his fall, the APD said.

“There appeared to be a struggle inside the apartment,” Evelyn Estevez, with the Altamonte Springs Police Department, said. “So this changed from a suicide to a homicide relatively quickly, very quickly.”

Two suspects who were last seen with the victim were identified by detectives as Mandi May Jackson, 21, and Scott Michael Love, 30.

According to arrest records, Jackson had applied to work at the Dollhouse Club and Love was her boyfriend.

Investigators reported finding evidence of a struggle in Mulrenin's apartment and bloody zip ties and duct tape they believe was used on him.

“It’s very unsettling because this apartment complex is a wonderful, secured, 24-hour security type of complex,” said Laurie Gredlein, a resident in the building.

Jackson and Love were found in Orlando with property belonging to Mulrenin, police said.

They were arrested and charged with felony murder.

Detectives said money might have been the motive for the homicide.

According to arrest warrants, Mulrenin had left the strip club the night of his death with $2,500 in cash, which was not found in his apartment after his fall.

Detectives said they also have video of Jackson and Love using the victim’s credit cards after the homicide to purchase a PlayStation and two phones.
