Region draws more than $2 billion for transportation projects

Metro Orlando has gotten more than $2 billion in federal and state funds in the past two years for local projects in the works.

So said U.S. Rep. Darren Soto (D-Florida), who hosted elected officials and executives from Lynx, Central Florida Expressway Authority, Brightline and the Florida Department of Transportation on Sept. 8 at the Osceola County Administration Center to highlight some of the projects being planned.

Funds the region has received have come from the $1.2 trillion Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, the American Rescue Plan Act and Florida funds.
