BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. — A crew from SeaWorld helped rescue a baby bottlenose dolphin in Brevard County this week.
Two fishermen found the sunburned baby dolphin Friday morning alone in sea grass on the Indian River Lagoon.
They brought the animal to Scottsmoor Landing in Mims, where SeaWorld vets are evaluating the dolphin’s health.
“There’s a big bubble on its head, which is a blister from sunburn. It’s breathing a lot more than we expected and its heart rate is really high,” said Megan Stolen, of the Hubbs-SeaWorld Research Institute.
It’s not clear how long the baby dolphin may have been alone in the sun before being found.
