Seminole County man jumps on gator to rescue dog trapped in its jaws, officials say

OVIEDO, Fla. — Florida wildlife officials trapped an alligator that reportedly attacked a dog over the weekend.

Officials said a 12-foot alligator was captured Sunday after they were called out for reports of the attack.

The attack happened Friday at Riverside Park in Oviedo.

Officials said q man and woman were walking their dog along the Little Econ River when an alligator came out and snatched it.

The man told officials that he jumped on top of the alligator to rescue the dog and was able to free it.

Officials are warning pet owners not to walk their animals near any bodies of water, especially during alligator mating season.
